AGARTALA: Security forces in Tripura have seized drugs worth at least Rs 3 crore.
Personnel of the Tripura police and Border Security Force (BSF), in a coordinated effort, dealt a significant blow to drug smuggling operations in the state.
The security personnel seized Yaba tablets worth Rs 3 crore at a village in Tripura.
The operation unfolded late Monday (March 18) night at the residence of Idris Mia in Sonamura sub-division, located in Sepahijala district of Tripura near the international border the Northeast state with Bangladesh.
Sonamura sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) Sasimohan Debbarma briefed the media, disclosing that around 70,000 Yaba tablets valued at Rs 3 crore were seized from Idris Mia’s residence.

Additionally, Tripura authorities confiscated Rs 1.40 lakh in cash.
Although Idris Mia, a known figure in the drug trafficking network, managed to evade capture during the raid, the BSF intelligence department and local law enforcement had been monitoring his activities closely.
Suspicions regarding his involvement in smuggling drugs from other states into the region prompted authorities to act on credible information provided by a confidential source.
The swift execution of the raid led to the confiscation of a substantial quantity of illicit drugs.
Notably, an expensive vehicle believed to be utilized for smuggling purposes was also seized during the operation, marking a significant breakthrough in the ongoing battle against drug trafficking in Tripura.
