The cyber crime branch of Tripura Police revealed some new facts on ATM hacking.
According to cyber crime branch, the hackers used ‘Skimmer Device’ to know the ATM Pin numbers and customers ATM card details.
According to the cyber crime branch the hackers posted ‘Skimmer Device’ in four ATM counters in Agartala.
These ATM counters are at Battala SBI, Indra Nagar SBI, Kaman Chowmuhani SBI and State Co-operative at Post officer Chowmuhani.
Cyber crime branch along with SBI closed all these four ATM counters on Sunday night.
Police along with SBI team recovered skimmer devices from these ATM booths.
Police told three bank frauds installed skimmer devices in four ATM counters on November 3 last.
Police also identified some of the ATM hackers from the CCTV footage.
Police said, may be these frauds were active in the State from long time but in last three to four days, the ATM card hacking incident came to the notice.
According to police, several customers who visited those four ATM booths in recent time have lost money from their accounts.
The SBI told through a press release that they have blocked some ATM cards of some customers as a precautionary measure.
“There are reasons to believe that data relating to these cards might have been compromised to some miscreants,” the release added.
“Our Customers are requested not to panic in this regard. In the event of any financial loss due to Card Cloning customers are advised to visit respective Branches. State Bank of India is committed to protection of interest of its valued customers,” the SBI press release further stated.
According to the police nine more customers have reported that they lost their money from their accounts since Saturday night to Sunday night.
More than 25 incidents have been reported in police stations of Agartala where the victims told their ATM cards were hacked.
Police suspect more than 100 people across the State may have lost their money from the bank accounts in last four days because of these ATM hackers.
