AGARTALA: In a distressing development, a person stands accused of deceiving 21 unemployed individuals from the Sonamura sub-division of Tripura by enticing them with promises of lucrative job prospects overseas.

The Tripura police has confirmed the initiation of a case against Saiful Islam, purportedly the mastermind of this fraudulent operation.

According to police reports, Saiful Islam orchestrated an intricate scam, taking advantage of the aspirations of job seekers in Tripura seeking opportunities abroad.

Eager for a brighter future, the victims entrusted substantial sums to the accused for services such as passports, visas, flight tickets, and medical certifications.

However, upon reaching MBB airport at Agartala in Tripura, they were shocked to discover that all the documents provided were forged.

The flight tickets, devoid of any association with legitimate airlines, were identified as counterfeit by airport authorities, exposing the scheme.

A police spokesperson disclosed, “The victims allege the involvement of Saiful Islam’s wife and in-laws in the elaborate deception, accusing them of being accomplices.”

It is purported that Saiful Islam absconded with a significant sum of Rs 30 lakh, leaving the victims in financial turmoil and uncertainty.

Upon visiting Saiful Islam’s residence, the victims found him missing.

Subsequently, they approached his in-laws’ residence, only to be met with their denial of any connection to Saiful.

The investigation remains ongoing as authorities strive to apprehend the accused and deliver justice to those impacted by this deceitful ploy.
