More than 50 patients at a Covid Care Centre in South Tripura on Saturday took to the streets to protest against the poor facilities and lack of medical staff at the centre.

They came out of the centre set up at Ekalavya Model Residential School at Birchandra Manu in South Tripura and demanded that adequate number of doctors and nurses provided at the centre.

The patients alleged that only one doctor and one nurse are offering service at the centre, where a total of 86 patients have been admitted.

The patients alleged that they were not provided with food and water. They added that the condition of the beds was also not up to the mark.

On being informed, top police officials rushed to the centre and tried to pacify the protesting students.

However, the protesting patients returned to the centre after South Tripura additional DM Suman Raxshit assured them that their allegations will be looked into and efforts will be made to address those.
