A near-total Bharat Bandh was observed across Tripura on Tuesday, with all markets and business establishments closed in rural and semi-urban areas and streets bearing a deserted look.
The bandh received a mixed response in Agartala.
Train services across the state were disrupted and government-run buses plied on the roads carrying minimal passengers.
The nation-wide bandh has been called by several farmers’ organizations in protest against the centre’s three new farms laws.
Although educational institutions and offices were open, they recorded much less attendance of people than would normally be.

Although the ruling BJP state government opposed the bandh, opposition parties including the CPIM and Congress have lent full support to the bandh.
BJP supporters organized bike rallies in different parts of the state urging the public against observing the strike.
CPIM and Congress supporters also took to the streets to enforce the bandh in support of thousands of farmers, who have been agitating in Delhi over the new farm laws.
All Indian Krishak Sabha (AIKS) leader, Pabitra Kar said, “We appeal to the people to support the Bharat Bandh for the sake of the farmers of the country.”
Tripura Congress workers also staged a protest to show their solidarity with the farmers.
They burnt tires in front of the Congress Bhawan in Agartala, all the while raising slogans, “ Modi hatao, desh bachao”.
Some BJP supporters arrived on the spot where the Congress workers had been agitating, leading to complete chaos.
The police soon arrived and brought the situation under control.
SP West, Manik Das told that legal actions will be taken against the picketers.
