Healthcare facilities in Tripura are improving day by day, claimed Chief Minister Biplab Deb on Tuesday night.
He was addressing a gathering after inaugurating the Bhramakhunda Mela in Simna near Bangladesh border.
“Recently, 159 neurosurgeries were done successfully at GB Pant Hospital in Agartala, which saved approximately 13 crore rupees,” the CM said.
“A year back, people of the state could not even imagine this. Any patient with Neurological problems was referred outside the state for treatment,” Deb said.
“Once outside, the patient had to spend a hefty amount in the name of treatment,” the CM said adding that neurosurgery treatment costs around Rs 18 lakhs.
“Our government is providing medical treatment for free. The patients need to spend a meagre amount of Rs 5-8 thousand for buying medicines,” he reiterated.
Deb further informed that the neurosurgeries are conducted by neurosurgeons hired by the state government.
“Experienced neurosurgeons are roped in from outside to state for conducting the operations. We want people to avail the services within the state only so that their money can be saved,” Deb added.
Deb reiterated the fact that his government is committed to providing the best healthcare facilities to the people of the state.
