The CPI-M organized several protest rallies and meetings across the state on Friday protesting hooliganism of BJP workers and supporters in the name of strike on Thursday.  CPI-M along with its frontal organizations like SFI and DYFI organized a massive protest procession in  Agartala followed by a rally at the city centre area  where many leaders of the party delivered their speeches.

CPI-M leader Krishna Rakshit said, “The BJP engineered attacks throughout the state and disturbed the peace in general life including attacking ICDS centres, small shops and our youth leaders and supporters in the name of strike. Protesting such hooliganism by the BJP, we have organised procession today.”

During the 12-hours strike called by BJP on Thursday in protest against the alleged pre-planned murder of journalist Sudip Dutta Bhowmik, there were reports of sporadic incidents of scuffle between the ruling CPIM and BJP at various parts of the state including at Aralia in the outskirts of capital Agartala and South Tripura and Sepahijala district in which supporters of both the parties were injured besides a police personnel.

Party offices of both the BJP and ruling CPI-M were also ransacked as allegations and counter allegations of attacking party offices went on in the election bound state where the crucial assembly election is scheduled early next year. CPI-M also alleged that the BJP had entered ICDS centre, drove the students away and ate their mid-day meals.
