To avoid spread of coronavirus, the Tripura Government has banned entry of foreigners through immigration points.

No foreigner will be allowed to enter the State through immigration centres like Agartala (Akhaura), Srimantapur, Muhurighat, Khowai and Raghna.

The same also applies to the immigration centre at the MBB Airport here.

An official of the Agartala ICP on Friday said the measure has been taken in view of the coronavirus threat.

However, any Indian stranded on foreign soil will be allowed to enter the State through the entry points.

Two border haats functioning along the Indo-Bangladesh border have been shut down following the Central Government’s instruction.

The official said the health department has taken all steps to contain coronavirus even though no positive case has been detected in the State yet.

“Three quarantine places have been selected in the State. We are working as per the guidelines issued by the ministry of health and family welfare,” said a senior health department official.

The state government has called for all possible steps, including massive cleanliness drives at places of mass gathering.
