The 166th battalion of Border Security Force (BSF) along with Kadamtala police seized 119 kilograms of dry cannabis from an ambulance in Kurti area in Assam-Tripura border.

The team detained one Jiban Rekha and the ambulance even though the driver of the ambulance managed to escape from the spot.

Police informed that the owner of the ambulance has been identified as one Dilip Pal.

They are investigating the case and are trying to locate the driver of the ambulance.

“We had intelligence inputs that an ambulance is being used to smuggle cannabis,” police said.

“Based on the inputs we intercepted the ambulance. We are examining if the ambulance was involved in any previous cases of cannabis smuggling,” the police added.
