TIPRA Motha workers have allegedly attacked the chairman and members of the block advisory committee (BAC) of the BJP-IPFT alliance at Mungiakami in Teliamura sub-division in Tripura’s Khowai district.
Some youths reportedly entered the office of Sunil Debbarma, chairman of the block advisory committee at Mungiakami on Wednesday afternoon and asked him to sign an official paper.
Although Debbarma did not agree in the beginning, he was forced by the youths to sign the paper, said sources.

The youths then came out of the chairman’s room and beat up BAC members and workers of the BJP-IPFT alliance, who were present outside the block office at that time.
Upon receiving the news, BAC vice-chairman Bikash Debbarma rushed to the spot.
The injured were rushed to the Teliamura Hospital for treatment.
Among the injured, Ranjit Debbarma sustained injuries in the head.
The chairman and the vice-chairman of the BAC alleged that the attackers were supporters of TIPRA.
Meanwhile, Tripura forest minister Mevar Kumar Jamatia and MLA Kalyani Roy rushed to the spot after receiving the news of the incident.
They also came to Teliamura Hospital to inquire about the condition of the injured workers.
Jamatia and Roy also said strongly condemned the incident and said that strict legal action would be taken against the perpetuators.
TIPRA Motha workers reportedly also caused trouble in South Pulinpur, Hadrai, Duski autonomous district council (ADC) villages of the Teliamura block in Tripura.
Kamal Kalai, an executive member of the district council rushed to the Mungiakami area to investigate the matter.
Kalai said the people of the hill tribes in Tripura were living in poverty due to the plight of Covid-19 pandemic and supporters of TIPRA went to the chairman of the block to get a signature to help the needy.
He alleged that the chairman did not sign the paper because of which the incident occurred.
He also claimed that several people were injured from his party TIPRA Motha.
However, he categorically denied the allegations against his party workers.
