Nine more positive patients have succumbed to COVID19 infection in Tripura in the last 24 hours.
With the demise of these 9 patients, Tripura’s total death toll increased to 160.
The death toll stood at 151 on Monday according to the state health department’s bulletin.
Tripura’s death rate now stands at 0.99% and this is the highest in the Northeast.
A total of 48 positive patients have died in the last 8 days of this month.
In average, six people have died of COVID19 infection per day so far this month.
A total of 88 people died of COVID19 in the month of August in Tripura.
According to a bulletin, issued by the health department on Tuesday, the number of people infected by COVID19 is 16,156.
The rate of positivity is also much higher and it was 5.29% on Tuesday.
Currently, the number of active patients in the state stands at 6,319.
On Monday, 628 people tested positive for COVID19.
A total of 9,653 people went home after recovery from the disease.
The recovery rate is also decreasing constantly.
Now, the recovery rate is 59.83%.
On Tuesday, 311 people recovered and returned home.
Some pictures and videos, which have gone viral on social media, show bodies lying in packets in the corridors of the GBP hospital.
However, no statement has been received from the government so far.
