Tripura’s first COVID19 positive patient is stable now and out of 17 close relatives of the patient, with whom she recently came into direct contact, 8 tested negative on Wednesday.
Informing this, Tripura education minister Ratan Lal Nath in a press conference on Wednesday night at the State Secretariat, said, “A total of 88 people have been identified till now who came in contact with the COVID19 infected lady.”
“Among the 88 people, 49 are under institutional quarantine and 39 are in home quarantine,” said Nath.
He also said, “A total of 17 people, who are very close to the patient, have been tested and reports of 8 people came and all are found negative.”

The minister informed that as reports of 9 cases were found ‘inappropriate’ so samples have been collected from them again.
He also said apart from the lady, Tripura has not registered any new COVID19 positive case.
He also confirmed that 233 samples have been tested for COVID19 out of which 232 have been found negative.
Nath said, “On Wednesday, 986 people are in home quarantine while 164 are under institutional quarantine.”
Regarding the agitation launched by some nurses and other medical staff members in different hospitals alleging that they have not been provided proper protection kits, Nath said, “There are sufficient numbers of protection kits in the state.”
“There is nothing to worry,” he said.
He also said, “N-95 masks and PPE kits are not for all the health staff. These are required only for those who will provide treatment and medical service to the coronavirus positive patients.”
Nath also informed that Tripura chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb himself reviewed the present status of the state in view of the COVID19 outbreak.
“The chief minister had a detailed discussion with the higher officials regarding the current situation of COVID-19 in our state. He also reviewed the stock of PPEs and other necessary equipment,” added Nath.
