Three more positive patients, including a BSF jawan, died of COVID19 infections in Tripura in the last 24 hours, taking the state’s death toll to 40.

For the first time in Tripura, a BSF jawan succumbed to COVID infection.

In the month of April, COVID19 started infecting Border Security Force (BSF) jawans, deployed along the Indo-Bangla border areas Tripura.

Around 200 BSF jawans have tested positive for COVID19 in the state.

But the report of a BSF jawan succumbing to COVID19 infection came for the first time in Tripura on Saturday.

The COVID19 victim BSF jawan is from Uttarakhand and was posted in Tarapur BOP of the BSF’s 80 Battalion under Mohonpur sub-division.

It has been learnt that the BSF jawan dell sick on Friday night and he was immediately sent to the GBP hospital at Agartala, where he tested positive for COVID19 and died of infections on Saturday.

The Tripura health department informed that in the last 24 hours, a total of 3 persons have died of COVID19 infections in the state.

In a bulletin, the health department said Tripura has so far registered 6,017 COVID19 positive cases.
