Tripura Assembly Deputy Speaker Biswabandhu Sen inaugurated the 69thVanmahotsav festival on Tuesday by watering the sapling of a Banyan Tree at Dharmangar Vivekananda Sardo Satabarshiki Bhawan.
SP North Manik Das, DFO Naresh Babu N, SDM Rajesh Das, along with others were present at the program.
Addressing the program, DFO Naresh Babu N said that the rainy season in Tripura starts by May and keeping that in mind we start plating tree sapling in different areas.
A total of 7000 saplings are being distributed in the schools and different organization for promoting massive afforestation. To gain the interest in tree sapling, the names of the person will also be mentioned whoever plants the sapling.
Inaugurating the program, Tripura Assembly Deputy Speaker Biswabandhu Sen speaker stated that we should love the trees like we love our mothers, as we get oxygen from them. Massive afforestation is highly important to maintain biodiversity and ecological balances.
It is also important to prevent global warming, soil erosion and pollution. Afforestation purifies the environment and helps reduce the carbon dioxide level, added Sen.
