Personnel of Border Security Force (BSF) seized a consignment of 10,055 Yuba tablets, valued at Rs 50.27 lakh from bordering village of Miyapara under Sepahijala district of Tripura on Tuesday.

Official sources said that based on intelligence inputs, a contingent of border guards of 74th battalion laid a trap near Miyapara village on Tuesday.

The BSF jawans noticed the movements of some smugglers, who were trying to sneak into Bangladesh territory with some packets of banned drugs.

Immediately, the BSF jawans challenged the smugglers and tried to apprehend them, but taking advantages of thick jungles, the smugglers managed to escape from the spot.

Later, in the course of a search operation at the spot, BSF jawans recovered 51 small packets containing 10,055 Yuba tablets, which has market value of Rs50.27 lakh, sources said.

The seized contraband tablets were later handed over to the Madhupur police station.
