Guwahati: The Border Security Force (BSF) deployed along the Indo-Bangladesh border in Tripura has apprehended three Bangladeshi nationals while they were trying to sneak into India illegally.

Alert troops of the BSF nabbed the infiltrators near the Harihardola Border Outpost (BOP) in the state’s Sepahijala district.

The trio hails from Bangladesh’s Comilla district.

In view of the turmoil in the neighbouring country, the BSF has intensified its vigil along the India-Bangladesh border in Tripura in order to prevent an influx of illegal immigrants.

The BSF has apprehended at least 65 Bangladeshi nationals while they were trying to cross over to India in the current month.

Earlier on September 11, the border guards apprehended three Bangladeshi nationals from two different locations after they entered India illegally.

The arrests were made in Unakoti district’s Kumarghat after the group was found wandering suspiciously in the area.

The arrested individuals – Mohammad Hanif, Mohammad Yusuf Ali, Parul Begum and Jasmine Akhtar – were all from different parts of Bagerhat district in Bangladesh.

They had traveled by three-wheelers throughout the night before being dropped near the LIC office in Dharmanagar.

On being questioned, the group revealed that they had been lured to India by a man named Rubel hailing from Dhaka who had promised them employment opportunities in Bengaluru.
