The seized Yaba tablets

The troops of Border Security Force (BSF) on Friday night seized 9,000 Yaba tablets from Sonamura area in Sepahijala district of Tripura along Indo-Bangla border.

BSF officials said BSF troops deployed on KK Nagar border outpost in Sonamura subdivision along the border observed suspicious movement of two to three miscreants along with some packets in their hand approaching near Indo-Bangladesh border fence.

“BSF team challenged the miscreants to stop, but they did not pay any heed and continued in their nefarious activities.  Finding no alternative to stop them, BSF troops fired one round of pump action gun in air to deter the miscreants and on this, the miscreants fled from the spot taking the advantage of darkness and nearby houses,” said a official.

The official said during thorough search of the area, BSF team recovered one plastic packet containing of 9,000 Yaba tablets worth Rs. 45, 00,000 from the spot.

Later the seized Yaba tablets were handed over to PS Jatrapur.

Regular seizures of such huge quantity of Yaba tablets by BSF troops from bordering areas under Sonamura indicates the vulnerability of the area from smuggling of drugs, said the official.
