A top Maoist rebel carrying Rs 15 lakh reward on his head surrendered in Chatra district in Jharkhand on Friday.
Police said Maoist Muneshwar alias Mukesh Ganjhu surrendered before Chatra Superintendent of Police Rishabh Jha and CRPF Commandant Pawan Basan.
He was wanted by the National Investigating Agency (NIA) in murder and terror funding cases.
Mukesh was second in command in the Maoist group Tritiya Sammelan Prastuti Committee.
His surrender is considered a setback for the left insurgent group.
Mukesh had joined the proscribed CPI (Maoist), but later aligned with its splinter group TSPC in 2005.
He was also involved in the killing of journalist Indradeo Yadav in 2016.
