Even as the nation awaits the results of theLok Sabha election, Tripura is all set to go for the three-tier panchayat elections of gram panchayats, panchayat samities and zilla parishad.

In a notification, the state election commissioner has declared that the list of polling booths for three-tier panchayat would be published on May 20 while last date for filing claims and objections would be on May 27.

According to reports, disposal of claims and objections would be conducted on May 28 and the state election department is scheduled to hold an all-party meeting by this time. The final list of polling booths would be published on May 31.

Sources said, the state election commission is on the move to conduct three-tier panchayat election latest by July next.

Electoral rolls would be finalized by June for the election.

Notably, in the by-election, the ruling BJP had managed to secure massive victory by securing more than 95 per cent seats of the three-tier panchayat.
