Assam government on Monday has announced three awards to be given annually for promoting women entrepreneurship in the state.

Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal announced commendation and cash awards for three successful women entrepreneurs who achieve success by virtue of their sheer diligence

Speaking on the first day of a two-day Assam Women Entrepreneurs’ Conclave at NEDFi House in Guwahati, Chief Minister Sonowal said the State Government would encourage women entrepreneurs by giving cash award of Rs 5 lakh, Rs 3 lakh and Rs 2 lakh respectively. He also said the state government is committed to channelize the skills of the women folks of Assam using latest technology and give a fillip to their entrepreneurial skills.

Sonowal also said appropriate planning coupled with scientific approaches and honest and hard labour would lead to a prosperous Assam. He appealed to the women entrepreneurs to keep working for their empowerment and development of Assam. He also said in all the 33 districts government would provide assistance to set up women hub and women clusters like the one which will be built at Guwahati on a plot of land measuring seven bighas of land at Bamunimaidan.

Industries and Commerce Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary who was also present on the occasion said his ministry is doing everything possible to promote women empowerment in the state. He also said in response to Chief Minister’s announcement of setting up women hub in Guwahati his Ministry would complete all necessary modalities for the same.

Chief Minister felicitated three women entrepreneurs in recognition to their success in their business. He also inaugurated an exhibition organised on the occasion.

The conclave which has been organised by Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship witnessed the participation of women entrepreneurs across various sectors from the state.
