The Kamrup (Metro) district administration has issued some advisories for the new year celebrations.

As per the notification issued for general public and those concerned, no celebration will be allowed beyond 12:30 am on the night of December 31.

Serving of liquor in the bars will be as per the timing mentioned in the licences while all celebrations should conclude by 12:30 am.

Any premise which intends to celebrate New Year for which special permission is required is required to get a no objection certificatc from the Commissioner of Police and also permission from the District Administration (Excise Branch).

For temporary license where there is intention of use of alcohol, it has to be clearly mentioned in the application for special permission of one day temporary license, stated an official press release.

The Kamrup (Metro) district administration has also strictly warned against drunken driving and advised the public not to encourage others to drive after drinking.

The advisory also asked all bars and restaurants to mandatorily install CCTVs, both inside and outside and there should not be any shadow area.

The bar and restaurant owners are advised to maintain strict vigil both inside and outside of all bars and restaurants and all approach roads leading to the bars and restaurants are to be properly maintained with adequate lighting.

The management of the city bars and restaurants are also advised to keep proper power back up in case of power failure.

The release also said foods served should be in compliance with the food safety protocol to ensure maintenance of quality and standard. All bars and restaurants should also maintain proper cleanliness and hygiene in their premises, the release added.

The management of the bars and restaurants are also asked to check and verify the age and identity of all persons entering the premises.

Meanwhile, the Kamrup (Metro) district administration has formed joint teams including officials from district administration, police, health, transport and excise departments for surprise inspection.

The official release also warned non-compliance of these guidelines will lead to suspension/ cancellation of licences.

On the other hand, prohibitory orders under section 144 CrPC has been imposed in the Deepor Beel area prohibiting assembly of more than five persons for picnicking in the vicinity of the wildlife sanctuary.
