Popular Brazilian footballer Ronaldinho has recently been arrested for using a fake passport to enter Paraguay.

As per reports, the 39-year-old footballer has been detained along his elder brother Roberto de Assis after police raided their presidential suite at the Resort Yacht and Golf Club on Wednesday.

The duo had to remain under police watch in their hotel after their arrest.

They went with their lawyer to the public prosecutor’s office on Thursday.

Both of them were questioned for more than seven hours there before being released.

The star football player was invited to the Paraguayan capital Asuncion by a foundation for needy children, and to promote his new book.

However, this is not the first time that Ronaldinho and Assis were caught in a fake passport controversy.

In November 2018, they had their travel documents seized by Brazilian authorities after failing to pay a fine resulting from a 2015 court case.

It may be mentioned that Ronaldinho, who retired from football in 2018, was one of the finest players to walk on Earth.

He was named FIFA World Player of the year in 2004 and 2005 and won the World Cup with Brazil in 2002 and the Champions League with Barcelona in 2006.
