GANGTOK: Opposition party in Sikkim – the Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) has accused the ruling Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) of violating the model code of conduct (MCC).
Former Lok Sabha MP and senior SDF leader PD Rai led a delegation to meet the Sikkim chief electoral officer (CEO) on Tuesday (March 19), lodging allegations of MCC violations against the ruling SKM party.
Following the meeting, Rai briefed the media, expressing concerns regarding the transparency of the funding sources of the SKM party, particularly questioning the utilization of their funds by Sikkim chief minister Prem Singh Tamang-Golay.
Rai defended the use of electoral bonds, which were recently invalidated by the Supreme Court.

He extended gratitude to the Sikkim CEO for their attention to the matter, asserting that their concerns were duly acknowledged.
Rai also drew attention to the demands of Presidential Rule in Sikkim, citing past incidents of violence that eroded public trust in law and order.
Accusing the SKM party and Sikkim government representatives of alleged flouting of the model code of conduct (MCC), Rai specifically pointed out the department of personnel’s issuance of orders, which he deemed a blatant violation.
He emphasized that these infractions were brought to the Sikkim chief electoral officer’s attention.
