Sikkim chief minister PS Golay has said that the COVID-19 situation in the state is under control and there is “nothing to panic”. 

CM Golay made this statement after attending the meeting with union home minister Amit Shah in Shillong on Saturday. 

“There is nothing to panic. We were challenged by the second wave of the pandemic. But we have been able to tackle it,” said Sikkim chief minister PS Golay. 

Notably, this statement from the Sikkim CM comes at a time when the Himalayan State is still detecting cases at a positivity rate of over 10 percent.

As on Saturday, there were 2849 active COVID-19 cases in Sikkim. 

While 225 cases were logged in Sikkim on Saturday at a positivity rate of 11.4 percent, the state’s recovery rate stood at only 87 percent. 

Meanwhile, Sikkim’s COVID-19 death toll currently stands at 330.
