Professor Avinash Khare took the charge of Sikkim University as the third Vice- Chancellor of the University. He has taken the post of Vice- Chancellor of Sikkim University from the officiating Vice-Chancellor Professor Jyoti Prakash Tamang on Thursday.
He has been appointed as the Vice- Chancellor of Sikkim University, a Central University established by an Act of Parliament in 2007, by the President of India in his capacity as the Visitor of the University.
Professor Khare is an eminent Astrophysicist and one of the most renowned scientists in the field of Plasma Research.
Professor Jyoti Prakash Tamang had been the officiating Vice-Chancellor of the University since 13 October 2017 after Professor TB Subba completed his tenure as the second Vice- Chancellor of Sikkim University.
