Four regional parties of Sikkim have come together to form Sikkim Progressive Alliance to contest the upcoming Assembly and Parliamentary elections in the State.

The alliance has been formed during a meeting of four regional parties held in the capital on Wednesday.

The meeting, which was chaired by Sikkim Sangram Parishad president and former Lok Sabha MP, Dil Kumari Bhandari, was attended by leaders and representatives from Sikkim Sangram Parishad, Sikkim National Peoples Party, Sikkim Rajya Manchi and Sikkim United Front.

After a thorough discussion and deliberation, all four parties have decided to contest the upcoming election together under the alliance of Sikkim Progressive Alliance (SPA).

The meeting has unanimously selected SRM president and Rangang-Yangang MLA, Rup Narayan Chamling as convener, SSP president, D K Bhandari as the chief advisor and SNPP president Delay Namgyal Barfungpa and SUF president Narendra Adhikari as advisors of SPA.

SSP general secretary, D B Basnet has been appointed as SPA spokesperson. It is informed that SPA would soon announce the list of candidates for the elections.
