Sikkim Boys Veterans become the champion of the Veteran’s Football Invitational Tournament 2019 played at Paljor Stadium in Gangtok of Sikkim.

In the final match played on Saturday afternoon, Sikkim Boys Veterans defeated Darjeeling Town Veterans 5-1 to lift the champion’s trophy.

Tseten Bhutia and Binod Bantawa scored a brace each for Sikkim Boys Veterans and their teammate Crispin Chettri added one more goal in the team victory.

The face-saver for Darjeeling Town Veterans was scored by Tashi Bhutia.

Pushpa Gurung of Sikkim Boys Veterans adjudged as the Man of the Match, while Gheyla Bhutia of Darjeeling Veterans awarded with the Man of the Tournament trophy.

Forest Minister Karma Loday Bhutia was present as the chief guest, who gave away trophies and mementos to its winners.  On the occasion, a senior footballer of Sikkim, Thakur Kumar Rai was felicitated by the organisers.

Seventeen teams from Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Siliguri, Dooars and different parts of Sikkim participated in the tournament. The week-day long tournament, which was kicked off on 29 June, was organized by Gangtok-based Sikkim Boys Football Club.
