The National People’s Party (NPP) will hold the first conference of the North East Coordination Committee (NECC) of the party in Shillong on June 8.

Former Meghalaya chief minister D. D. Lapang, who is the national vice-president and chairman of the NPPNECC, had convened a meeting in Shillong on May 16 to prepare for the upcoming conference.

The May 16 conference was attended by NPP leaders from Meghalaya, Assam, Mizoram and other states of the Northeast.

The meeting, which was chaired by Lapang, discussed about how to make the conference successful.

The members also discussed about urgent and vital issues in the present situation to be included in the agenda of the conference.

Strengthening the party organisation, Women’s Wing and Youth Wing will also be included in the agenda.

The NPP state units have been requested to send all suggestions and matters which they want to be included in the agenda to the office of the NPPNECC or to the chairman of the organizing-cum-reception committee for the NPPNECC conference, Dr. W. R. Kharlukhi, who is also the co-chairman of the NPPNECC.
