Security forces recover weapons from five hideouts of miscreants in Manipur.

Imphal: In their efforts to curb anti-social activities, personnel of the Indian security forces on Thursday targeted five hideouts of the armed miscreants for serial operations in violence-hit Manipur and recovered arms, ammunition, explosives, and warlike stores of weapons.

The central and state forces jointly conducted operations at the fringe and vulnerable areas in the villages of Khongyam Heirikokthong and Moltingcham in Kakching District, Tuibong and adjoining areas, Churachandpur District and Takhel village and Teraphai/Tuisenphai hills, Imphal East District.

No arrest could be made in the series of operations.

From the Khongyam Heirikokthong area, Kakching District, the security forces recovered one carbine with the magazine, two air gun pistols, nine HE-36 hand grenades, four detonators of HE-36 grenade, one para 2-inch mortar shell, one HE 2-inch shell bomb, 48 empty cases, three Anti-Riot double blast, two Baofeng set with battery, six tear smoke bombs, one INSAS LMG magazine, 20 shells, 13 live ammunition rounds, 36 empty cases and other miscellaneous items.

From Moltingcham Village, Kakching District the security forces recovered one locally made rifle, two Baofeng handsets, one Chinese Hand Grenade, one Lethod shell, one Pistol Magazine, two .303 Magazine charger bases, one grenade Key, one 2 inch Motor Shell Wing, 37 Empty Case ammunition, one misfired round, and two locally made “Pompy Launcher”.

From Tuibong and adjoining areas, Churachandpur District the security forces recovered two modified pumpi and one SBBL (12-bore) gun.

From Takhel village and Teraphai/ Tuisenphai hills, Imphal East District one .303 Rifle with magazine, one Carbine with a magazine, 15 live ammunition rounds, two HE-36 Hand Grenade, one WP Green color no. 80 mark-1 grenade, one pistol, and 49 empty cartridges were recovered.

The recovered items have been handed over to the Manipur police for early disposal of the case.
