Cruel hand of destiny has struck Bollywood again with 24 hours.
Veteran actor Rishi Kapoor passed away in Mumbai on Thursday.
The actor was admitted to the Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital on Wednesday morning.
Amitabh Bachchan took to Twitter to confirm the news of Rishi Kapoor’s demise a while ago.
He wrote, “He’s GONE.. ! Rishi Kapoor .. gone .. just passed away .. I am destroyed !”
Rishi Kapoor returned to India last September after undergoing treatment for cancer in the US for almost a year.
He was previously taken to the hospital in February earlier this year after being diagnosed with an infection.

Rahul Gandhi also took to Twitter to express his grief and condolences at the passing of Rishi Kapoor, one of the most loved actors of Indian cinema.
He wrote:
‘This is a terrible week for Indian cinema, with the passing of another legend, actor Rishi Kapoor. A wonderful actor, with a huge fan following across generations, he will be greatly missed. My condolences to his family, friends & fans all over the world, at this time of grief.’
Born to the legenday Raj Kapoor, Rishi Kapoor received the National Film Award for his debut role as a child artist in his father ‘s 1970 film ‘Mera Naam Joker’.
He played leading roles as the romantic lead in 92 films between 1973 and 2000, of which 36 were box office hits.
For his performance in ‘Do Dooni Chaar’, he won the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actor in 2011, and for his role in ‘Kapoor & Sons’, he won the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor in 2017.
He was honoured with the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award in 2008.
He appeared opposite his future wife Neetu Singh in twelve films from 1973 and 1981.
His death came within 24 hours of Irrfan Khan’s demise on Wednesday.
