Reliance Industries has clarified that its executive director Nita Ambani has not received any offer of appointment as visiting professor from the Banaras Hindu University (BHU).

About 40 students staged a protest on Tuesday outside BHU vice-chancellor Rakesh Bhatnagar’s residence in Uttar Pradesh’s Varanasi against the university’s internal proposal to appoint Ambani as a visiting professor.

According to sources, the proposal was put forth internally last week at the BHU’s Centre for Women’s Studies and Development.

Nita Ambani or Reliance has nothing to do with the proposal, a report quoted officials of Reliance Industries.

Meanwhile, the BHU on Wednesday issued a statement that no proposal has been made to make Ambani a visiting faculty at any department of the university.
