Indian Railways on Sunday announced that that it would extend the services of its hospitals and dispensaries to all central government employees and their families in view of the spread of COVID-19.
As per reports, the services include those of all 128 hospitals and 586 dispensaries of the Indian Railways all over the country.
“In view of the outbreak of COVID-19, Ministry of Railways have decided that the services of Railway Hospitals and Health Units across the country would be available for use by all Central Government employees on showing their Identity Cards at the Railway Hospital/Health Unit,” stated a notification issued by the Ministry of Railways on Sunday.

Amidst the nation-wide complete lock down due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Indian Railways continued making all efforts to ensure availability of essential commodities through its freight services.
During the situation of lockdown in all the States, Indian Railways staff deployed at various good sheds, stations and control offices continued working to ensure that the supply of essential items for the nation does not get affected.
To ensure an uninterrupted and seamless supply chain of goods and essential commodities in the wake of COVID-19, Indian Railways is offering its unhindered services of parcel trains for nationwide transportation of essential commodities and other goods required to meet the needs of citizens of the nation.
Transportation of essential items like medical supplies, medical equipment, food, etc in small parcel sizes is going to be very important during the lockdown in the wake of COVID19.
In order to fill in this vital need, Indian Railways has made railway parcel vans available for quick mass transportation across the nation for the needy E-commerce entities and other customers including State governments to transport such goods.
