The North East Students’Organization, Jalandhar (NESOJ) in Punjab has recently organized its seventh annual sports meet 2019.

The sports meet that began on August 31 last successfully concluded on November 12 last.

This was informed through a press note issued by the organization on Friday.

The sports meet was powered by Pilot Sports Jalandhar and co-sponsored by Metsuben Wedding Planner of Dimapur and Tsukhru Design, Kohima.

The meet was supported by Club Twenty and the students from all the eight north-eastern states residing in the Jalandhar and Phagwara region.

The students showed active participation throughout the event.

The final day event was held at Hardaspur Playground in Phagwara.

The final day started with the welcome address by RinlungsoZas, president of NESOJ

The closing ceremony was attended Soso Shaiza, member, National Commission for Women as the chief guest.

Other guests included SubhashishMazumdar, director general (operations), Lovely Professional University; Dr SorabhLakhanpal, head of division of student welfare, Lovely Professional University, Karamyogi Jaswant Singh, Karamyogi Charitable Trust, Phagwara; Chelsea  Kikon Kaur and Arup Nath, both advisors of NESOJ.

Co-founders of NESOJ Joysankar Bhattacharjee and Borunjyoti Borgohain were among the alumni’s attending the closing ceremony.

The award winners are:

  • Men’s Football Champion – Abonati SC (Arunachal Pradesh)
  • Men’s Cricket Champion – Sangai (Manipur)
  • Men’s Volleyball Champion – Hornbill (Nagaland)
  • Men’s Basketball Champion – Lushai (Mizoram)
  • Women’s Handball Champion –Sangai (Manipur)
  • Women’s Volleyball Champion – Lushai (Mizoram)
  • Best Athlete (Man) – LalrozamaRalte from Mizoram
  • Best Athlete (Woman) – Tovikali K Chophy from Nagaland

Arunachal Pradesh emerged as the overall champion team.

The event concluded with vote of thanks by Kaleng Darang, general secretary, NESOJ.
