The People’s Representation for Identity and Status of Mizoram (PRISM) on Monday pledged to transform Mizoram into an industrial state if it comes to power in the ensuing Assembly elections of the State slated for later this year.

The newly floated political party which was earlier an anti-corruption watchdog is organizing street campaigns since August to garner support in the run-up to the Assembly polls which is scheduled to be held by the end of this year.

Addressing a meeting at the party office in Aizawl on Monday, its president Vanlalruata said apart from elevating agriculture and its allied sectors, industries would be set up in all parts of the State.

He added that all important infrastructures like the condition of roads, supply of electricity and water would also be improved if the party is voted to power in the ensuing Assembly elections.

Vanlalrauta also said that the existing system has to be changed as despite various measures taken by the existing government, nothing substantial has changed in the lives of the people of the State.

He further added that a regulated market would be introduced with the help of market information system.

He said that local traders who import essential commodities would be asked to purchase local harvest in case of market problem.

He also said that his party would give top priority to self sufficiency in food grains and financial assistance would be given to rice and cash crop producers for their harvest.
