International pop star Rihanna and Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg have extended their support to the farmers protesting at the Delhi borders against the three contentious farm laws.

“Why aren’t we talking about this?! #FarmersProtest,” tweeted Rihanna, who has more than 100 million followers on Twitter.

She shared a news report by CNN on India’s farmers’ protest.

Rihanna expressed her outrage at the internet shutdown aimed to cut off protesting farmers.

The tweet sent the singer trending on Twitter with thousands of responses including one from actor Kangana Ranaut.

Climate activist Greta Thunberg while extending her support to the protest twitted,

“We stand in solidarity with the #FarmersProtest in India,” she said.

Thousands of farmers, mostly from Punjab, Haryana and western Uttar Pradesh, have been protesting at the Delhi borders—Gahjipur, Singhu and Tikri.

Apart from Thunberg, UK Member of Parliament Claudia Webbe also expressed solidarity with the Indian farmers.

“Solidarity to the Indian Farmers. Thank you Rihanna. In an era where political leadership is lacking we are grateful for others stepping forward,” she wrote along with sharing a screenshot of Rihanna’s tweet.
