Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein on Sunday said that the coming State Assembly elections in the State would be fought by the BJP with Pema Khandu as the chief ministerial face.

Mein who was at Chongkham, the sub-divisional headquarters of Lohit district, to attend the mandal coordination meeting of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) said that that there should be no confusion regarding Khandu’s chief ministerial candidature.

The Deputy Chief Minister further added that State BJP president Tapir Gao will be the face of the party in the forthcoming parliamentary elections from Eastern Arunachal. He exhorted the party workers to gear up for the ensuing elections and urged them to be on election mode.

Expressing happiness at the turnout of people for the meeting, he underscored the need to put in more efforts to improve coordination within the mandals.

Speaking on the occasion, Gao said, “Though BJP has forged a post-poll alliance with the National People’s Party (NPP), however, it does not amount to being political ally at all levels and stages.”

Though NPP is in North-East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) it does not amount to being political ally at all levels and stages. The BJP has no alliance with any party and that it will go solo in all the 60 Assembly constituencies and two parliamentary seats for the upcoming State and parliamentary elections, he said.

Among others, Chongkham MLA Chow Tewa Mein, Namsai MLA Chow Zingnu Namchoom, ST Morcha secretary Sange Thungon and a large number of party functionaries were present on the occasion.
