On the first anniversary of the People’s Democratic Council of Karbi-Longri (PDCK), a Karbi militant outfit, which was observed as the Red Army Day,   its Chairman JK Lijang on Wednesday asked the ‘Red Army’ personnel to be disciplined and to respect human lives and human rights, national and public property and to maintain civility while discharging their respective duties and responsibilities.

Lijang in a press communiqué to media houses, stated, “We should be guided by laws, ethics, morals and conventions acceptable to human conscience and international norms regardless of the excesses of atrocities and inhumanity being perpetrated by the Indian government forces.”

He also stated, “No matter the circumstances, temptations and challenges, we must never succumb to the propaganda of our enemies, selfish materialistic pursuits or immoral, illegal and extravagant indulgences and must maintain high moral patriotic standard.”

Under a group of competent instructors, namely 2nd Lieutenant Sithung of NLFT, Sergeant Major
Sintha and Private Tikendrajit of KYKL, Sergeant Major Momo of NSCN, Sergeant Major Pavel Koch
of KLO and Sergeant On Teron of PDCK, the first batch of the armed wing of PDCK took rigorous
military training starting from February 1, 2017 and successfully passed out on March 28, 2017, stated the press communique, signed by Lijang.

“On this day, the cadres of the first batch of Red Army took an ‘oath of loyalty’ to the nation and high command of PDCK. Thus PDCK resolved to observe the March 28 as the Red Army Day
or the Red Army Raising Day,” it added.

The PDCK Chairman condemned the Government of India and its military alleging that they are involved in “committing inhuman atrocities in our motherland”.  He added, “They (Indian military have been violating human rights, human dignity and values in our land. To show their military might and false heroism, they have raped our mothers and sisters and murdered our brothers and caused disappearances of our people.”

The militant leader also alleged that the military is “intimidating and torturing our people in vast scales. Indian Army is a great threat to peace in our land.”
