The Christians observe the Palm Sunday on the last Sunday before Good Friday.

The rituals on Palm Sunday include a procession of the faithful carrying palms, representing the palm branches the crowd scattered in front of Jesus as he rode into Jerusalem.

Pastor priests accompanied by other clergy members recalling Christ’s entry to the Holy City, Christians took out a procession with palm leaf from the Holy Cross which ended in the St Francis Xavier cathedral church in Durjoynagar, in the outskirts of capital Agartala.

Father Emmanuel, priest of the cathedral said, “Large number of the followers took part in the walk with Jesus to Jerusalem but later the same followers also took part in his crucifixion, though under compulsion. This are the two sides of the story of our life but Jesus sacrificed his life for the human suffering and got victory over death three days later. Similarly we should also continue our struggle till we reach our ultimate goal.”

Meantime, Mewar Kumar Jamati, Forest Minister of Tripura said, “This is the message of the Almighty that we should live in peace and harmony. Our Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji also tells ‘saab ka saath, saab ka vikash’ so in Tripura we shall all live together and the new BJP-IPFT government will ensure this.”

Large number of devotees attended the church worship services on Palm Sunday and prayed for universal peace and prosperity.
