Nowgaon district earned three points while Lakhimpur district earned one point following their two-day quarter-final league match of the Nuruddin Ahmed Senior Inter-District  Cricket Tournament at Mangaldai on Tuesday by virtue of their first innings lead of 32 runs, as the match at the Mangaldai stadium ended in a draw.

Resuming their overnight score of 158 for 8, Lakhimpur added only nine runs to the overnight total and thus conceded an important 32 runs lead to Nowgaon.

In the second innings, Nowgaon scored 136 runs for 7 in 40 overs when the umpires decided to declare the match ending in a draw.

Amzad Ali scoring 35 runs, Ashok Saini scoring 20 runs and Bhaskar Konwar with 20 runs batted well for Nowgaon against an accurate spell of bowling by Jitumani Kalita (5/40) for Lakhimpur.

In the third and last quarter-final league match at Mangaldai stadium on April 18 & 19, now Guwahati will take on Lakhimpur. This was informed by Sambhu Nath Deb, a senior office-bearer of Mangaldai Sports Association.

In the earlier quarter-final match of the Nuruddin Ahmed Senior Inter District Cricket Tournament played at Mangaldai Stadium, Bongaigaon District Sports Association secured three important points against Jorhat by virtue of their first innings lead of 84 runs after the two-day match ended in a draw recently.

Jorhat District Sports Association boys had to remain contented with one point.
