NRL has adopted a definitive step to secure the future of the courageous forest staff manning Kaziranga National Park

The Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) has adopted a definitive step to secure the future of the courageous forest staff manning Kaziranga National Park (KNP) whose lives are often fraught with danger from wild animal attacks and poachers.

The public sector oil company has facilitated a group insurance for 1,129 forest staff with National Insurance Company.

“The Group Personal Accident Insurance Policy was ceremonially handed over to Director, Kaziranga National Park (KNP) P Sivakumar by MD NRL SK Barua recently,” an NRL spokesman said on Monday.

“The Group Personal Accident Insurance Policy will provide an insured sum of Rs. 5 Lakhs per insured person/ nominee for death or bodily injury resulting solely and directly from accident caused by external violent and visible means.

“Weekly benefit upto Rs. 5,000 for maximum 104 weeks has also been provided for temporary disablement. Insured amount can be directly claimed from National Insurance Co. Ltd., Golaghat,” she said adding that the policy, initiated by NRL, will be effective from Aoril 1, 2019  for one  year term initially to be further extended on yearly basis.

“NRL is a success story in business enterprise while KNP is one in conservation efforts of wildlife. With both the entities working and complementing each other, greater things could be achieved,” said KNP director P Sivakumar.

“Since its very inception, NRL’s identity is entwined with KNP, being adjacent to each other in location and therefore reaching out to KNP has been a natural recourse,” said S K Barua while hoping that more such meaningful collaborations will take place in future.
