Two more special trains will be operated by Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) for the benefit of the people of the Northeast region from this week.
One daily special train will start running between Howrah-Guwahati-Howrah with effect from October 5, 2020.
Another weekly special train will start running between Silchar-Trivandrum-Silchar from October 8, 2020.
“Introduction of these special trains will enable passengers from a vast part of Assam and Northeast to avail the facility of train travel to various parts of the country,” said the chief public relations officer (CPRO) of NFR, Subhanan Chanda in a statement.
Chanda informed that 02345 Howrah-Guwahati special will leave from Howrah at 3:50 pm daily with effect from October 5, 2020 and reach Guwahati at 10:05 am next day.
During return journey, 02346 Guwahati-Howrah special will leave from Guwahati at 12:20 am daily with effect from October 6, 2020 to arrive Howrah next day at 5:25 am.
During the journey, the train will run via Kamakhya, New Bongaigaon, New Alipurduar, New Coochbehar, New Jalpaiguri, Kishanganj, Malda Town, Rampurhat, Bolpur and Barddhaman.
This train will have 1st AC, 2nd AC, 3rd AC, Sleeper class and general 2nd class accommodations available.
There will be no unreserved coaches.
The NFR CPRO also informed that 02508 Silchar-Trivandrum special will leave from Silchar every Thursday at 8:05 pm from October 8, 2020.
The train will halt at Badarpur Jn, New Haflong, Maibang, Lumding, Hojai, Guwahati, Kamakhya, Rangiya, Barpeta Road, New Bongaigaon, Kokrajhar, New Alipurduar, New Coochbehar, Dhupguri, New Jalpaiguri, Kishanganj, Malda Town, Howrah, Kharagpur, Bhubaneswar, Vijayawada, Kathpadi and Ernaculam.
The special train will reach Trivandrum at 10: 40 pm on Sunday.
During return journey, 02507 Trivandrum-Silchar special will leave from Trivandrum every Tuesday at 4:55 pm with effect from October 13, 2020 to reach Silchar at 7:00 pm on Friday.
This train will have 2nd AC, 3rd AC, Sleeper class and general 2nd class accommodations available. There will be no unreserved coaches.
“Passengers must download Aarogya Setu App, and strictly observe social distancing both at the station and on trains. Wearing of face covers at the entry and during travel is a must. Only asymptomatic passengers with confirmed tickets will be allowed to enter the Railway station/board the train,” the statement said.
Meanwhile, NFR has decided to resume the services of 3 pairs of DEMU services in Tripura following receipt of letter in this regard from the state government.
Accordingly, 07676 DEMU will leave Dharmanagar at 6:00 am to arrive Agartala at 10:00 am while 07675 DEMU will leave from Agartala at 5:45 pm to arrive Dharmanagar at 9:-45 pm.
The 07688 DEMU will leave Agartala at 4:30 pm to arrive Sabroom at 7:00 pm while 07687 DEMU will start from Sabroom at 7:15 pm to arrive Agartala at 9:50 pm.
The 07682 DEMU will start from Agartala at 5:15 am to arrive Sabroom at 7:45 am while 07689 DEMU will start from Sabroom at 8:00 am to reach Agartala at 10:25 am.
All regular passenger train services on Indian Railways including Premium trains, Mail/Express trains, Passenger trains services, narrow gauge train services were suspended in the wake of COVID19 since the last week of March.
In NFR area presently 12 pairs of special trains are presently in operation.
