As sensation prevails in Tripura after an 11-year-old child was murdered and locals doubting that his kidneys were taken out, the State Director General of Police, Akhil Kumar Shukla, on Wednesday said that there is “no child-lifting or organised human organ trade racket in the State”.

Speaking to reporters in the police headquarters on Wednesday evening, DGP Shukla said, “Rumours have been spread across the State that a gang of child-lifters involved in human organ trade has entered the State, but these rumours are totally baseless.”

Shukla cautioned that due to the wild spread of such rumours some untoward incidents might happen as in such situations, people might fall into the trap of rumour mongers.

He appealed to all not to indulge in rumour mongering and circulating fake news and images and should refrain from it.

The State DGP warned that legal action would be taken against persons found indulging in such cases.

He also strongly condemned the murder of the 11-year-old boy at Sidhai on the previous evening at Bhumihin colony under Sidhai Police Station with multiple cut marks.

Though initially it was suspected that the child’s kidneys were taken out, but autopsy report revealed that no part of his body has been taken out.
