Following a news item published in a newspaper stating that ‘Bihar MLAs enjoyed sexy dance with local girls in Indo-Myanmar border town’ and similar news published in other newspapers, the Manipur Assembly clarified that those were neither MLAs nor officials of Bihar Legislative Assembly.

In a press release issued on Monday, the PRO of Manipur Legislative Assembly, Raju Yanglem, stated: “This is a clarification regarding the publican of a news item along with photographs in…along with the caption “Caught in camera: Bihar MLAs enjoy sexy dance with local girls is Indo-Myanmar border town” and similar news item published in other local newspapers that the persons showing as MLAs of Bihar Assembly are neither MLAs nor officials of Bihar Legislative Assembly who visited the state from May 31 to June 3, 2019 on official tour.”

“The news item is misleading and was aimed at tarnishing the image of the visiting VIPs as well as the Manipur Legislative Assembly,” the release added.

It further claimed that the officials of the Manipur Legislative Assembly Secretariat, who accompanied the visiting committee, provided the protocol assistance to the visiting MLAs and was not related with any activities as reported in the media as well as those uploaded in the social media.

The MLAs, who are the members of the Committee on Internal Resource and Central Assistance of the Bihar Legislative Assembly, had come to Manipur last week.

The Manipur Legislative Assembly also served a notice to a newspaper, which first published the news, stating that the news it published was ‘misleading’.

In the notice, issued on Monday to the editor of the newspaper by M. Ramani Devi, secretary, Manipur Legislative Assembly, said:  “It has come to the notice of the undersigned that a misleading news was published in your newspaper on Sunday, 9?” June, 2019 under the caption, “Caught in camera, Bihar MLAs enjoy sexy dance with local girls in Indo-Myanmar border town”.

“You are, therefore, intimated to explain your position regarding the news item within 24 hours,” the notice said.

The news was also carried out by most of the digital media houses as the video went viral on the social media platforms.

As per media reports, the members of the committee include BJP MLA Sachin Prasad Singh; JD (U) MLA Raj Kumar Rai; RJD MLA Shivachandra Ram.

The team was led by a RJD MLA, Yaduwanch Kumar Yadav.
