On the first day of the new phase of COVID19 vaccination commenced on Monday, India crossed landmark of more than 80 lakh doses administered in a single day while over 5.37 lakh doses were administered in Northeast.

According to the Union health ministry, nearly 81 lakh (80,95,314) doses, including a total of 5,37,123 doses in Northeast states, were administered on the first day of the new phase of COVID19 vaccination on Monday.

According to the data, shared by the Union health ministry while 12,892 doses of Covid19 vaccines were administered in Arunachal Pradesh on Monday, Assam recorded 3,30,707 doses of the vaccine, highest in Northeast, administered on the day.

The number of Covid19 doses administered in other states of Northeast include Manipur – 6,589, Meghalaya – 13,052,  Mizoram – 17,048, Nagaland – 9,745,  Sikkim – 11,831 and 1,41,848 doses of vaccine were administered in Tripura on Monday.

The current phase of vaccination was announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 7, 2021.

Prime Minister gave a clarion call to all citizens to vaccinate themselves and encourage the others, who are eligible to take the COVID19 vaccine.

The Union health ministry said Monday’s achievement showcases the trust placed by the people of India in the government in its fight against the COVID19 pandemic.

“The Union Government is committed to accelerating the pace and expanding scope of the nationwide COVID19 vaccination drive,” the Union health ministry said in a statement.

The vaccination drive has been ramped up through availability of more vaccines, advance visibility of vaccine availability to states and Union Territories (UTs) for enabling better planning by them, and streamlining the vaccine supply chain.

During the month of May 2021, more than 7.9 crore vaccines were available for the nationwide COVID19 vaccination drive.

These were ramped up to 11.78 crore in June 2021.

These include the free supply of vaccines to states and UTs from the Government of India, those directly procured by the states/UTs and those directly procured by the private hospitals.

States were provided advance visibility of the vaccine doses available to them in June 2021 by the Union health ministry.

This advance information enabled the states to prepare vaccine distribution plans district-wise and COVID Vaccination Centre (CVC) wise in an effective manner.

This facilitated a massive ramping up of the vaccine administration across the country.
