Union minister of state for food processing Rameswar Teli informed that the ministry is planning to open food parks in Northeast, with a large one in Meghalaya and a smaller one in Sikkim.
Teli was speaking at the conclave of North East Food Show 2019 in Shillong on Friday.
“The ministry has already sanctioned setting up of mega food parks in almost every state of the northeast. A mega food park at Banderdewa in Arunachal Pradesh has also been sanctioned,” he added.
“For 2020, the ministry has a budget of Rs 1,100 crore for the northeast region,” Teli informed.
“Food parks will be set up soon in Meghalaya and Sikkim. Every state of northeast should have a food park by the end of my term,” Teli added.
