The engineering aspirants of Northeast are likely to face serious problems on January 8 as the North East Students Organisations (NESO) has called a Northeast Bandh on that day.

The engineering aspirants have to write their Joint Entrance Examination (JEE), 2019 on that day, but they will face grave situation in reaching examination centres as vehicles are likely to stay off the road due to the shut down.

JEE is an engineering entrance examination which is conducted for admission to various engineering colleges in India.

Although NESO has kept all examinations out of the purview of the bandh, examinees will face problems as no vehicles are likely to ply on the roads.

All commercials vehicles including cabs, buses, city buses and autos are likely to stay off the road as vehicle owners are in no mood to take a risk.

“As buses and other vehicles would not ply on the roads due to bandh, students coming to the examination centre have to make their own transport arrangements, which might cause a problem,” said Monoj Pathak, a resident of Guwahati.

AASU president Dipanka Nath said that they have exempted the examinees from the bandh.

“We are sorry for the inconveniences that may cause to examinees due to the bandh. But we are left with no other options,” Nath told Northeast Now.

In Assam, JEE, 2019 will be held in five centres–Guwahati, Tezpur, Dibrugarh, Jorhat and Silchar.

In Arunachal Pradesh there are two centres one at Itanagar and another one at Nahalagun. While in Meghalaya the examination will be held at Shillong and in Nagaland it will be conducted at Kohima and Dimapur.
