Union Minister for road transport and highways – Nitin Gadkari inaugurated and laid foundation stone for as many as 15 national highway projects in Nagaland via video conferencing on Friday.
These 15 national highway projects will cover a total distance of 270 kilometres and will be constructed at a cost of Rs 4,127.
One of the projects include an alternate access from Imphal to Dimapur and connect Kohima to the Phek district and Myanmar border.
Besides, transportation between Dimapur and other districts of Nagaland will also improve as a result of these projects.

Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio was also present during the virtual inauguration ceremony.
“These projects will improve connectivity and socio-economic activities in Nagaland, with neighbouring states & Myanmar border,” said Chief Minister Rio.

Union Minister General VK Singh and Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton were also present during the inauguration ceremony of the 15 national highway projects in Nagaland.
These new 15 national highway projects in Nagaland are believed to boost infrastructure and connectivity in the State.

Earlier, on August 17, Gadkari had also laid the foundation for 13 different highway projects in Nagaland, while also inaugurating a road safety project.
Those 13 highway projects will cover a total of 316 kilometres highway length and will be built at a cost of Rs 3,000 crore.
