The General Officer Commanding (GOC), Spear Corps, Lt. Gen Rajeev Sirohi, called on Nagaland governor R.N. Ravi at Kohima and discussed the security situation in the state.
The General apprised the governor about the coordination of the army and the Assam Rifles with the state agencies for maintenance of peace and tranquility in the state and along the Indo-Myanmar border.
Ravi lauded the untiring efforts of the armed forces in spite of various challenges and complemented them for their people-friendly initiatives.
The GOC assured the governor of continued support of army and Assam Rifles to the people of Nagaland for achieving lasting peace, development and prosperity, according to a release issued by defence PRO Lt. Col. Sumit Sharma.

It may be mentioned that suspected Yung Aung (YA) faction of the NSCN-K fired at an Assam Rifles camp in Chenloisu village in Mon district along Indo-Myanmar border in the wee hours on Sunday.
Sources said the cadres of the NSCN-K faction fled after firing several rounds at the D Coy camp of 40 Assam Rifles from a distance at around 2 am.

The Assam Rifles personnel promptly retaliated. There was no report of any casualty on either side during the exchange of fire.
The village guards and gaon burhas (village heads) of the area visited the site of the incident and reportedly recovered 75 empty cases of bullets.
Though the motive behind the attack was not known immediately, sources said the militants might have carried out the attack to prove their existence and disturb peace.
Mon deputy commissioner Thavaseelan K. confirmed the incident. He said there was casualty.
He said the security forces cordoned off the area and hunt is on to nab the militants responsible for the attack.
Thavaseelan said no militant outfit claimed responsibility for the attack till late Sunday evening.
According to reports, an Assam Rifles jawan and two civilians including a woman received minor injuries in the attack.
