While Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the nationwide Covid19 vaccination drive on Saturday, Nagaland chief minister Neiphiu Rio launched the vaccination drive in the state.

Sharing the news, chief minister Rio in a tweet on Saturday said with the launch of the vaccination drive, Nagaland joined the world’s largest vaccination programme.

Rio said he attended the pan-India launch of the Covid19 vaccination by Prime Minister Modi through video conference.

“Attended launch of pan-India rollout of COVID19 #vaccination drive by @narendramodi ji via VC. Also launched #COVID19Vaccine for Nagaland. As we join the country in the world’s largest vaccination prog., I hope it’ll be the beginning of restoring communities to wholeness & health.”

Nagaland received the first batch of 26,500 doses of Covid19 vaccines from the Union health ministry for the healthcare workers.

“The vaccination will be done in pre-identified health care units, both government and private for those who have registered in #CoWin portal,” the Nagaland government earlier said.

Nagaland health minister S Pangnyu Phom launched the Covid19 vaccination at Dimapur District Hospital on Saturday.

Nagaland higher education minister and state BJP president Temjen Imna Along launched Covid19 vaccination drive at Jalukie PHE.

Along said, “The Government of India under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has finally launched the first phase of Covid19 vaccines.”

Along further said, “We should take this moment to thank God for the blessing.”

Along also thanked the central government for availing the vaccines in the state and urged the beneficiaries to follow proper guidelines issued by the competent authority and co-operate with the government for the best results.
