Precocious and cheerful little Kitheka I. Khujumi donated his pocket money to the fight against novel coronavirus in the district on learning about the global pandemic and seeing the plight of the people in the district.
He was saving his pocket money to buy himself a bicycle this year but instead, he decided to contribute it to a noble cause.
The Zunheboto District Task Force for COVID19 sent out good wishes for Kitheka’s better future and hoped that he would inspire others by his good deeds.
Home delivery of essential items in Dimapur
The Dimapur district administration in collaboration with various NGOs has been distributing free food packets and providing home delivery of essential commodities to the stranded students and the destitute throughout the district.
Dimapur deputy commissioner Anoop Khinchi said 221 persons in Dimapur District Sports Complex relief camp, 44 stranded passengers in Netaji Youth Hostel, 82 people in state sports hostel are being provided regular meals through Community Kitchen initiative of the government.
Khinchi in a statement said around 800 people are provided food packets and rations of essential commodities on a daily basis through the Community Kitchen and Food Bank initiative of the government.
On Monday, the Nagaland unit National People’s Party and All Nagaland Private Schools Association donated essential items to the members of the Dimapur Eastern Naga Students Union stranded here and 135 Nagaland University students residing in 10 hostels at Medziphema.
Around 100 students of Dimapur were also given essential commodities through the Dimapur Naga Students Union, Khincji said.
Nagaland chief minister Neiphiu Rio’s visit
Nagaland chief minister Neiphiu Rio on Monday paid a visit to the state-level control centre on COVID19 at Lotha Hoho building, Kezekie, in Kohima to take stock of the state-level monitoring mechanism in the fight against the Coronavirus pandemic in the state.
Rio interacted with the senior officers at the centre on the compilation of vital information from all the 11 districts on a daily basis.
The officer on special duty, Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority, Johnny Raungmei, briefed the chief minister on information about law and order situation and supply chains of essential commodities and their availability in the entire state.
Rio also inquired about the figures of migrant labourers particularly those hapless from all the 11 districts.
He asked the officers at the state level control centre to compile all the information from the districts in the fight against COVID19 and said it should be more comprehensive.
Precautionary measures:
Principal secretary to home, Nagaland, Abhijit Sinha, on Monday directed all the deputy commissioners of the state to take precautionary measures for maintaining peace and tranquillity during Ram Navami and Hanuman Jayanti.
In a notification, he said the government order on lockdown has caused strong resentment among some sections of the people on religious lines.
“As such any irritant might lead to communal unrest,” Sinha said.
He appealed to all concerned to keep a strict vigil on the circulation of objectionable content on social media. Action may be immediately taken for blocking/removing such contents, the notification added.
